MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS 2025

Municipal elections will be held in Finland on April 13, 2025, and a new city council will also be elected for Helsinki. The city council decides on matters in Helsinki that affect all residents.
Maria Aarnilinna is running as a candidate in the Helsinki municipal elections. She works as a guidance counselor at a primary school and represents the Green Party. All eligible voters in Helsinki can vote for her. Maria's key priorities include supporting children and youth, improving education, and promoting a sustainable future.
CAMPAIGN THEMES

Children and Youth
Maria is dedicated to making Helsinki a great city for all children and young people. Every child should have access to a daycare center close to home. Quality early childhood education supports children's learning both in daycare and later in school. Every neighborhood must have playgrounds and spaces where families can meet and spend time together.

Education
Education is essential, as it shapes a person's entire future. Maria wants teachers to be able to teach without disruptions and students to focus on learning. Schools must have small enough class sizes to ensure quality education. Vocational school and high school are both good options after primary school. Above all, schools must be safe environments for everyone.

Sustainable Future
Maria wants Helsinki to prioritize protecting nature and the environment. The climate crisis and biodiversity loss are serious challenges that must be considered in decision-making. Green spaces are essential in the city, and natural areas must be preserved. Public transportation is a convenient and affordable way to get around Helsinki, and it should be accessible to everyone.
